Sunflower, Good Morning
When I was a small child, there was a lame-ass song on the radio. (Imagine that! It was the late 70's.) It was by Glen Campbell, and it was called Sunflower. According to local legend, I used to smile and kick and dance in my high chair whenever it came on. Mom must have rushed out and bought the 45. (Do you remember 45's?) The only line I can remember out of the song is "Sunflower, Good morning!". Anyway, now that I have a daughter of my own, I have taken to waking her up in my sweetest, most syrupy voice, "Good morning, Sunflower." It took me a couple of weeks in her earliest days to figure out why in the hell I always called her 'Sunflower'.
